I'm a Missouri pastor and I would prefer to see our percentage kept in state reduced dramatically, however there are certainly other states who have a worse track record than we do. North Carolina, for instance, which I believe is the 3rd largest giver to the CP (I may be wrong about that) keeps 71.3%, Alabama keeps 61.5%, Arizona keeps 74.4% and Kansas/Nebraska keeps 68.1%. This is certainly not an isolated issue.Micah Frieshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00394552837032168244noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4363128321305256750.post-56264618606398572462009-06-17T15:09:17.842-05:002009-06-17T15:09:17.842-05:00Brother Bruce,

Nevertheless, I also think there needs to be some corrections made to our (SBC) Cooperative Program giving. The one I'm addressing in this post is the percentage. Two thirds of every dollar given never even makes it to Nashville. That doesn't seem right to me and I suspect most Southern Baptists have no idea that is the case.

Your comment nails a second item requiring attention, namely, what Gospel is being preached by those supported missionaries? Addressing that matter is going to require a great spiritual revival in our convention.TheSaxonHushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02594072216562518575noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4363128321305256750.post-23407578708238892122009-06-09T20:20:56.868-05:002009-06-09T20:20:56.868-05:00To me the issue is about more than just how much o...To me the issue is about more than just how much of the $ is being used for actual mission work...the issue is - how many of those few remaining dollars are being used to support missionaries that might
not even be presenting the whole gospel accurately (easy believism?)

I have a sister that is a missionary so this is an issue that I have had to deal with...though I would love to support her family financially - I cannot reconcile it with the fact that her idea of true regeneration is different than the Bible's view and the need to be wise stewards of the money God has entrusted to us.

There are other mission organizations that are more in line with my own theology (HeartCry for one) so doesn't it make sense to support those ones?Edihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01881967873653190545noreply@blogger.com
